Jintan owns rock salt mine which its comprehensive index is the best in Southeeast China, it is 800-1,000m under the ground, reserves reach to 16.4 billion tons, content of NaCl reaches to more than 85%,the brine mass reaches to 280g/l, very rich salt resources, the extracting condition is very advantageous. According to the plan of State’s “Western Gas Sending East ” project, the salt mine’s extracted cave is listed as the Yangtze River Delta’s gas-storing tank of the project. In order to speed up the construction of the cave, especially establish salt-chemical industry base in the JEDZ, it has got the support of the State’s relevant departments. The total occupied area of the base is 3.8 km2, there are blocks such as chloro-alkaline PVC, chloro-alkaline’s downstream product manufacturing, fine chemicals, soda and phosphorus chemical industry.
